WebGUI Related Questions

In what way(s) do you contribute to WebGUI or the WebGUI Community?
I wrote an Auth module that supports OpenId authentication.
Every once in a while I will answer a newbie question or help on IRC

When did you first hear of WebGUI?
I don't really remember when I started but it must have been about five or six years ago. WebGUI has come a long way since then. I used to work with a similar Perl solution called Scoop but that project has long been unsupported by the open source community.

How and when did you get involved in WebGUI?
Probably two years ago when I first learned about OpenId.

Are you paid to work on WebGUI?

How much time do you spend on WebGUI?
I run all my websites' content with WebGUI, which can take from a few hours to 20 hours a week.

What do you think is still missing from WebGUI or the WebGUI Community?
A good native chat WebObject (I may have to finally break down and write one), and a native Email WebObject that can read email from remote hosts like Yahoo or Google mail. Integration with OpenWebmail would be great.

What keeps you motivated to keep working on WebGUI?

Well, besides the fact that it is free, it is also strictly written in Perl on the server side. I am a big supporter and promoter of Perl. WebGUI API is reasonably documented. And last, but not least, the company that supports WebGUI has a no nonsense approach to user contributions and assets to WebGUI.

What's WebGUI's killer feature and why?
Modular programming at its best and improving. It allows me to understand WebGUI internals quickly and without a lot of research.

What's WebGUI's greatest weakness and why?
The API documentation is often out of sync with the release and it seems that to really understand some modules I have to dig into the code.

What makes you work on WebGUI over the competition?

It is a full modular Perl solution that allows me to work effectively and quickly.

What's your most brilliant WebGUI hack?
I am not that brilliant :-(

Have you attended the WebGUI Users Conference?

Where do you keep your Gooey doll?

Don't have one, it is probably for the best as my dog would probably kill it if he got his paws on it.
