WebGUI Related Questions

In what way(s) do you contribute to WebGUI or the WebGUI Community?

I submit bugs, RFEs, and I do QA and offer recommendations about front-end development to the Template Working Group.

When did you first hear of WebGUI?

Three years ago, when I started working at Knowmad.

How and when did you get involved in WebGUI?

I began maintaining existing WebGUI sites for Knowmad shortly after I began working there in 2007 and learned the software that way. Shortly thereafter, I began creating templates and themes for new projects, and then I picked up development.

Are you paid to work on WebGUI?

How much time do you spend on WebGUI?

About 25 hours a week.

What do you think is still missing from WebGUI or the WebGUI Community?

Great design, in terms of both the software's user interface and available styles.

What keeps you motivated to keep working on WebGUI?

Its utter flexibility. Also, the community.

What's WebGUI's killer feature and why?

Functionality. Perl has been called a Swiss Army Chainsaw (for better or worse), and WebGUI follows in the same vein, for sure.

What's WebGUI's greatest weakness and why?

Its breadth. There are some features that feel half-implemented, like the vision wasn't entirely there.

What makes you work on WebGUI over the competition?

It does most of what I need out of the box, and I can usually create whatever else I need from existing code.

What's your most brilliant WebGUI hack?

I wrote a Workflow Activity recently that integrates MailChimp with a DataForm. It's coming to the Bazaar soon!

Have you attended the WebGUI User's Conference?

Yes, last year was my first time.

Where do you keep your Gooey doll?

On a bookshelf at work.
