WebGUI Related Questions

In what way(s) do you contribute to WebGUI or the WebGUI Community?

I post to the forum, report bugs and submit RFEs. I have also done some translation work and implemented new features. Whatever seems important.

When did you first hear of WebGUI?

That was a long time ago when I was looking for a CMS to create a web page for students of the Applied University of Sciences in Mannheim. Then I made the wrong choice, forgot about WebGUI and only rediscovered it recently for another project.

How and when did you get involved in WebGUI?

It all started with the creation of a community page for free climbers in Magdeburg ( Now I am responsible for keeping the site running and adding new features.

Are you paid to work on WebGUI?

Fortunately not. I may choose to work on whatever I like.

How much time do you spend on WebGUI?

Differs. Depends on my job and the family. What usually happens is that some of our content managers or users complain and I accept the challenge.

What do you think is still missing from WebGUI or the WebGUI Community?

(Non-professional) community members.

What keeps you motivated to keep working on WebGUI?

I just love programming. Even more if it results in something useful.

What's WebGUI's killer feature and why?

I can only repeat what has been said before: WebGUI is a framework. There is usually a good starting point for everything.

What's WebGUI's greatest weakness and why?

Many things are only implemented to a point that they are barely usable (think of the gallery or newsletter). If I remember correctly, JT once called it a breadth approach. In my opinion, you should not stop in the middle but finish things that you have started.

What makes you work on WebGUI over the competition?

Nothing particular. I only started with WebGUI and now I do not have any reason to switch.

What's your most brilliant WebGUI hack?

Pimping the chatbox asset written by preaction (check in the bazaar). Once I have learned more about JS, I will make it a really cool asset.

Have you attended the WebGUI Users Conference?

Nope, but I am definitely planning to do so and combine it with some nice trip in the States. First, I need to get one of those biometric passports, though.

Where do you keep your Gooey doll?

To tell the truth, I still do not have one. I was planning to buy one from karma, but then decided to give the karma to someone else.

Personal Questions

How would you describe yourself?

I am a nerd. No doubt. My wife would probably add 'know-it-all' and 'grouser'.

Married for 2.5 years and dating for about 6 years before (I do not remember precisely, but it seems an eternity).

One lovely daughter.

Do you have any pets?

No. Not at the moment.

If someone visits your area, what's something they must see or do?

Most people would recommend to see the castle or have a walk along the “Philosophenweg”. I rather suggest hiking in the “Pfälzer Wald” and do some free climbing.
