Karma is rewarded for performing good deeds on the site and in the community. Good deeds are considered posting in the forums, voting in polls, and other interaction with the community. In addition, karma is rewarded for purchasing goods and services through this site. The amount you get for all of these things varies, and is subject to change from time to time.
Once earned, karma can be used like currency. Whether you purchased your karma, earned it by helping others, or received it as a gift, karma is karma and is worth the same to us. We think you should be able to spend your karma as you please.
Currently, these are the ways to spend your karma:
- Rating Forum Posts: each time you rate a forum post up, a small amount of karma is transferred from your account to the owner of that post. This is a small way of saying thanks for a good post.
- Requests for Enhancement (RFE): each month, Plain Black staff will devote one day to completing as many RFEs as possible. You may spend your karma on RFEs to raise an RFE's priority, which means it will be completed faster. RFE work days will be announced on the WebGUI Community Calendar, and all community members are welcome to participate.
- Gift your Karma: on the right hand side of this page is a simple form by which you may gift karma to another WebGUI user. Why would you want to give your karma away, you ask? Gifting karma is a great way to say thank you or show support to someone in the community. What goes around comes around...
New ways to spend karma may be developed in the future. Check back to learn more.
