Installation Options

WebGUI is a very large application, and has many prerequisites. This can make installing WebGUI difficult for some people. We've tried to make the installation process easier for you by creating the WebGUI Runtime Enivoronment. We recommend using that to install WebGUI.

The WebGUI Runtime Environment (WRE) is the recommended method for installing WebGUI and it provides everything you need to run WebGUI on Linux, BSD, Mac OSX, Solaris, AIX, HPUX or other operating systems.

If you can't or don't want to use the WRE, you can always install WebGUI from source. This is only recommended for experts. Using the WRE provides you with a 300% performance gain over using a standard source install.

Members of the community have written how-tos for specific Linux distributions.

Our users have contributed several other sets of installation mechanisms and instructions.

**WebGUI is no longer supported on Windows. Plain Black recommends using the VMWare Appliance for Windows installs (http://www.webgui.org/download).
