  • Map
WebGUI's Map asset allows you to place an interactive map on your site using Google Maps. Before creating a Maps asset you need to get a Google Maps API Key. There is a link on the Add Map screen that will take you to the appropriate web page to do this.
  • Matrix
The Matrix allows you to perform a detailed comparison of different products and services. You enter the products and features to compare, and the Matrix will pull together all the results for you. An example of this can be seen on the Compare Stuff Network (www.comparestuff.net).

The MultiSearch places a search box on your website that allows users to perform a search from a list of search engines from a dropdown menu.

  • Search
Search function in WebGUI allows you to set up a search of content on your site. This may be configured to be a site-wide search, or a search of a specific area.
  • Shortcuts
The shortcut button has many uses, the most common being to create a “mirror” of an asset on a site. This is similar to a copy and paste; however, by creating a shortcut of an asset, an asset can be duplicated on a site, and editing the properties of one version of the asset will affect all versions of that asset throughout the entire site. So, if you place a shortcut of an article on three locations on a site, editing just one version of that article will render changes on all three. To create a shortcut of an asset, locate the asset toolbar of the asset you’d like to duplicate. In this case, the “Welcome” article of the WebGUI demo page will be duplicated.
  • Snippet
The snippet allows you to reuse text throughout your site. Snippets can be anything from plain text, HTML, CSS, or Javascript. Unlike other assets, Snippets don't have templates associated with them. They are merely what you tell them to be. Place content in the Snippet, and when you need to update the text do it once in the snippet. The update will automatically occur anywhere on the site where the snippet is referenced.
  • SQL Report
  • Stock Data
The Stock Data asset allows you to place up-to-date stock prices on your site so users can stay informed of stock activity. The results are delayed by about 20 minutes, so this shouldn’t be used for trading purposes.
  • Story Manager
WebGUI's Story Manager is a combination of three assets:
  • Survey
Surveys are a great way to collect information from site users. WebGUI's Survey 2.0 asset was built with flexibility in mind. The Survey allows for branching from both sections and questions to easily create response-driven surveys. In addition, many new question types and answer formats are now included, allowing for greater flexibility in customizing the survey to fulfill your needs.
  • Syndicated Content
Syndicated Content allows you to pull information from another site via an RSS feed. This is most often used to pull headlines from news sites.
  • Thingy
Thingy allows you to build complex web-based applications without any knowledge of Perl, HTML, CSS, or Javascript. Just point and click! Thingy is useful for building employee directories, contact lists, inventory databases and more.
  • ThingyRecord
ThingyRecord links WebGUI's Thingy asset with WebGUI Shop. It allows you to sell a record inside a Thing. This allows users to build things like an online classifieds system. A Thing inside a Thingy asset is built to house data. Then, a ThingyRecord is built, and in ThingyRecord you indicate the fields you want users to fill out. Once they complete those fields, they purchase the record. Upon doing so, the data they provided appears in the Thing.
  • Time Tracker
The Time Tracking System in WebGUI can be integrated with the Project Management System. This allows users assigned to projects and tasks in the project management system to report time spent on a project. Alternatively, the time tracking system can first be created and then projects manually added through it.
  • User List
User List allows you to display a list of users in a given user group. The list of users is generated based on WebGUI's users and groups system, and the asset allows you to display users according to user profile fields. This feature can be used to list, search for, and sort users according to user profile information such as username, first name, last name, or email address.
  • Weather Data
The Weather Data asset allows you to display current weather conditions on your website.
  • Wiki
The Wiki is a way for users to share their knowledge of site relevant topics. Users can post articles to the Wiki, and edit existing articles. Site users can also subscribe to either the entire wiki, or to individual wiki articles. A WebGUI community wiki can be found at wiki.webgui.org.
  • Zip Archive
The Zip Archive is useful for importing third party content to your site that can’t be uploszaded any other way. For example, many programs are capable of exporting to HTML, such as some popular presentation software programs. The presentation can be exported to HTML, zipped, and uploaded to a website. WebGUI then unzips the program in the uploads location with the directory structure intact and links to the index page.
