Building your own File System within webgui

We have folders and file assets, why not make a file system?

Below were the steps taken to make a filesystem within webgui to store files that were:

  1. viewable to "everyone"
  2. excluded from any site search
  3. excluded from any navigation assets
  4. file system was not to be browseable to prevent people from going up the folder structure to fidn more files.

The scenario was to be able to store files that third party sites could link to and offer them as "freebies".

  1. Create a folder asset in a a location that is outside of your website's structure. something like /root/ftp.
    • The viewable permissions will remain "everyone".
    • The style template is "Fail Safe" (optional)
    • Hide from navigation = "true"
  2. To turn off "browsability", Use the template from here: http://www.webgui.org/bazaar/non-browsable-file-folder-ftp-template. (make sure to grab the macro too)
  3. add your files and subfolders!
