Which means that you can now use apt-get install webgui in debian if you set your system to 'unstable, my system might become completely unusable'. :) http://packages.debian.org/unstable/webgui But still this is great news! Koen de Jonge - ProcoliX |

Congratulations to Ernesto, who has been working towards this for a longtime! koen@procolix.com wrote: > Which means that you can now use apt-get install webgui in debian if you set > your system to 'unstable, my system might become completely unusable'. :) Actually, it means we can do *much* better than that :) If you put something like: Package: webgui Pin: release unstable Pin-Priority: 500 Package: libjs-yui Pin: release unstable Pin-Priority: 500 Package: * Pin: release unstable Pin-Priority: -1 into the file /etc/apt/preferences, and add two lines: deb ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ sid main deb-src ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ sid main at the end of /etc/apt/sources.list you should then find that (after doing an apt-get update) you can then apt-get install webgui mysql-server from unstable, and it will pull in libjs-yui (which is not in lenny) -- but *nothing* else will install from that release. This is "safe". See man apt_preferences for the gory details :) After that you follow the simple steps in /usr/share/doc/webgui/Readme.Debian.gz and... webgui works! I just tested this in a Debian Lenny VM here. Works for me :) So, there is no need to "set your system to unstable" in order to benefit from these packages. webgui is now somewhat trivially installable in Debian, and should be even easier to install in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic (we/I missed the deadline for Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty).
