I just downloaded and imported these templates.
As far as I can see there is no eye candy included what so ever, is that correct or am I missing something (a point)?

You're right: there is no eye candy, they're just plain old boring templates :-) The goal was to clean up the old default templates and add some stuff to make theme designing easier.
I'm curious: what were you expecting?
