This one is for the "webgui templates working group" that self-assembled at the WUC. I'm looking forward to the dedicated mailing list being set up - in the meantime, I came across this article which has a useful round-up of CSS framework "big players".

I must say that I don't agree with the author's argument that "the professionals in this room are not well served by picking up a framework and using it as-is", but the list of frameworks may be a good starting point for further research. And anything related to Eric Meyer and CSS is worth reading IMHO (even if he's only being loosely paraphrased here) since at the last count he's the only person in the known universe who actually groks CSS.

Hey Pat,

good to see you're on it. Together with this article that Diona posted earlier we should have a good research base. Researching these and choosing one (or more?) will definately be one of our tasks.

Thanks,

Will the template re-design effort be looking at making better interfaces as well as prettier ones? A perfect example of what I mean by this is the issue that was brought up in my talk on WebGUI Search. Currently, it uses POST to process search criteria which causes the Resubmit message to come up in browsers if a user clicks the back button to return to the results after viewing one of the pages. I'd like to see this changed to GET to avoid the pop-up. I've had a few other ideas along these lines but am not sure where to toss them.

Yes! Most definately. End user usability is one of the points I mentioned in the work breakdown on our brand new discussion board.

Yes, I remembered that. We can use your template as a starting point for the new default search, instead of the old default. I also liked the use of a definition list for the results.

The webgui-templates-working-group discussing is closed, but I will start a thread on the dev list where people can post their suggestions and maybe some packages as well. Please do post your suggestions there.

Thanks William.

The discussion continues in the thread on community imput on the new default templates. William, I've replied you there.

Oh no you didn't!!!!

If you're going to accept comments from people outside, either let
those people into your discussion or let's make it an open forum.
Don't spam the dev list with template topics.
