Limiting the size of avatars

I noticed that some users are not aware of the difference between a personal photo and avatars. Is there a way to limit the size of avatars in WebGUI? I have already added a max-width style directive to my thread template. However, it would be more powerful to resize avatars at the time of submittal. Is there a way to do this?

Bernd

Hi,

you could use the Thumb macro to get the thumbnail of the uploaded photo:

<tmpl_if avatar.url>
    <img src="tmpl_var avatar.url>);" alt="<tmpl_var username>" class="class01" />
</tmpl_if>

You can set the size of the thumbnail for your entire site in the Settings > Content > Thumbnail size. (size is in pixel width or height, depending in the biggest number)

In the Collaboration System there is the option to set the thumbnail size for the CS only. (Display > Thumbnail size)

Greeting, marieken

I do not see that this is much better than adding a max-width style attribute to the template. In both cases, I need to change CS templates, which I prefer not to do.

It seems that limiting the size of avatars or automatic resizing at the time of submittal is currently not possible in WebGUI. Can someone confirm? If that is the case I am going to to submit an RFE.

As it seems there is no mechanism for limiting the size of avatars I have submitted an RFE. I believe this is a must-have when working with avatars. So maybe you want to support my request.
