I wanted to edit the last message, but it doesn't work.
(Tried with Firefox 3.5 and Seamonkey 2.0)

I built a small survey with 1 question using a Slider, with one answer. When I take the survey, I can move the slider to any position and then finish the Survey. When I look at the results, the correct answer is recorded.
This is with FF 3.5.8
Can you create a package of your Survey and upload it to the bug tracker?
Does a Survey created on the demo site (I know it's not 7.9, but it's close enough) for testing.

On the demo site, same bug (2. page in test)

So this is really a problem with the multi-slider, not the regular slider.

The problem was the maximum allocation variable wasn't being set. Once set, it works fine, only allowing the maximum to be applied to the sum of the sliders.
Fixed in 7.8.17 (0bac357)
Fixed in 7.9.2 (33c54b6)

I tested the browser with 3.5.9 and it works fine. Which browser are you using this time?

The multi-allocate slider allows you to take a number, and to share it among several sliders. The sum of the sliders is not allowed to exceed that number.
In the Survey you created on that demo site, the min, max and step are not specified. I suspect that they default to 10. Since I can allocate 8,2; 5,5; 3,6 but I can't allocate 4.7, 3,8 or 5,6 or 6.6.

I tested with 3.6.2.
You're right. I didn't realize the sharing of a maximum, so I think, you may close this bug.

I'll close it for now, but this is one of the least used features of the Survey. Keep your eyes open, and open new bugs as you find stuff.
