Strange spectre problem  (#11444)
Issue

I have a strange spectre problem in some sites (not in all sites in the same server).

Sometimes, I get this error in webgui.log:

2010/02/23 14:51:01 - ERROR - spectre.conf - POE::Kernel::_dispatch_event[1056] - CRON: Response for job magnews.conf-pbcron0000000000000004 had a communications error. <html>

</html>

This problem reiterates after 1/2 weeks.

After this error, spectre seems to work, but all the emails in mailQueue are not processed (I can force "run" in scheduled tasks, but nothing happens). After restaring spectre, mail are correctly sent.

In the meanwhile, for those site, I have a Nagios monitor for the mailQueue table.

It's less frequent in a 7.7 site than a 7.5 site.
Yes, I can install debug code in spectre.

3/1/2010 11:30 am 		Debug code attached.  Please install it and then let us know if the Nagios monitor trips.  We'll say that if there are no problems after 6 weeks, that it fixes the bug.

I've also installed this on some local servers for testing.

3/3/2010 8:47 am 		Sorry, but I can't see any difference from the original WebGUI::Operation::Cron to the attached one...am I mistaken?

3/3/2010 8:54 am 		Sorry, I uploaded the wrong one. Due to helpdesk limitations, I can't upload a file with the same name, so the new one is Cron2.pm

Please download it and replace Operation/Cron with Cron2.

4/18/2010 9:03 pm 		Okay, it's now officially been six weeks.  Have you had any spectre problems with email being sent, on the servers with the patch?

5/6/2010 9:32 am 		This didn't reopen the ticket, but I'll reopen in manually.

Due to the wremonitor, or other problems, it is still possible for that entry to be put into the webgui log file.  However, it's only a real problem if emails stop getting sent out.

Please check the contents of the mailQueue table and see if there are lots of old, pending emails.

5/6/2010 10:46 am 		Does the communications error message continue popping up in the logs?

Please watch the mail in the table, and see if it eventually gets processed.  If the queue is very full, it can take a while for it to get cleared out by spectre and WebGUI.

5/7/2010 1:56 am 		No, there was only an entry, and watching at spectre inside WebGUI admin console, all seems to work fine (i can see running workflow and scheduled workflow).
