Hi, I'm JT and these are my thoughts on community, content management, Plain Black, and WebGUI.
There's been some rumbling from some community members about the buyout of MySQL by Sun. It seems some of you are concerned. I'm not, here's why:
Although I do not think that Sun REALLY gets open source they where rather late in entering in it, they also have put licensing problems that do not permit the linux kernel from using code in thier opensource solaris kernel like ZFS.
But I think JT is still correct in saying that we have NOTHING to worry about. It may even be an oppertunity since Sun may have more resources to put behind MySQL. And they will try to push it very hard in the high end, I think that with Sun you will see better clustering support much sooner than if Sun did not buy.
The only real problem of this aquisition is for us to get used to saying Sun MySQL instead of just MySQL.
