The Rich Edit Composer is a plugin for Mozilla 1.x and/or Netscape 7.x that provides an integrated HTML editor for WebGUI.  Clicking the "rich edit" button in WebGUI launches the editor.  Clicking "Apply" from within the editor transfers the edited HTML text back to the originating WebGUI page for subsequent saving.

The Rich Edit Composer utilizes portions of the browser's Composer product and therefore provides a comprehensive HTML editing environment.  Moreover, the interface is very similar to the browser's Mail client in order to minimize training needs for WebGUI content managers who use Mozilla for the email client and WebGUI editing.

The included rich_edit_composer.zip file contains installation instructions for WebGUI 5.5.4.  Although the Rich Edit Composer has been tested and used in production since WebGUI 5.3.x, a customized version of Form.pm must be used in order to cause the "rich edit" button to properly function.

Please let me know what you think!

NOTE: Recognizing that users often switch between Mozilla/Netscape and Internet Explorer, selecting Rich Edit Composer as your default Editor To Use in your personal profile will result in HTMLArea being launched by WebGUI if you attempt to edit a page from Internet Explorer.

I think you should install this into WebGUI instead of into your browser.

Sorry, I hadn't "subscribed" to this forum and didn't know about your question.

Regarding the German version of Netscape 7.01, I don't know. The Rich Edit Composer utilizes the underlying Composer code. Do you have Mail and Composer installed and available in your Netscape installation? Also, I hardcoded some menu names, etc. into the code, so please let me know how it comes out on the German end.

There are two parts to installing Rich Edit Composer. The first part is a Netscape/Mozilla plugin (similar to spellchecker in Mozilla 1-1.2.1). You can manually install the plugin by drag-and-dropping the appropriate xpi file onto your open browser window (gecko1 xpi = Moz 1-1.2.1 and/or Netscape 7.0 - 7.0x)

The second part of the installation is the integration with WebGUI. This enables the launching of the Rich Edit Composer by clicking the "rich edit" button. If you have the plugin installed, but don't have the WebGUI integration portion complete, you can still launch the editor by putting your cursor in the textarea and clicking control-e (control-e outside a textarea will launch Composer proper).

Hope this helps.
