Right now, the Collaboration System, Wiki and PhotoGallery require that they be committed before you can add Posts, Pages and Albums to them.  However, that's not written down anywhere.

Each asset provides a template variable that says "Add".  If they aren't commited, that variable is empty.  I propose that instead of it being empty, we provide the i18n'ed message "This asset must be committed before you can add things to it."

I'm of almost the same opinion: The "add" link should Always be visible, but a user who gets to the add page should be told that the asset needs to be committed.

So one would click on the "Add" link and be given the i18n message "This asset must be committed before you can add."

I agree with preaction's response, but I think that a message needs to be shown earlier- at the time the asset is initially created and saved. So anytime one of these assets is created the asset creator is immediately notified upon clicking Save that a commit must occur before any content/threads/events etc can be added to the asset.
