In what way(s) do you contribute to WebGUI or the WebGUI Community?
Forum Q&A, RFE's, Bug reports, Macros.
In 2009 I started a German support website: http://webgui-professional.de - with tutorial, how-tos, examples and other WebGUI related information.
When did you first hear of WebGUI?
2002
How and when did you get involved in WebGUI?
About 1998, I started the development of a test engine for technical examinations, which had to be redesigned for certification development purposes. I had to realize the complete certification process from designing blueprints, questions, the testing, the certificates and psychometrics for a new Linux certification. Since no LMS offers this functionality, my own application didn't fit and I wanted to work with Perl, I finally found WebGUI as the best framework.
Are you paid to work on WebGUI?
That's my goal, which I achieve regularly.
How much time do you spend on WebGUI?
More or less all the time.
What do you think is still missing from WebGUI or the WebGUI Community?
Presence in the press.
German literature to invite the world to come back to
the a LAMP system, where the P still stands for Perl and does
everything people can expect from a good CMS Framework, even if they
don't know what to expect.
What keeps you motivated to keep working on WebGUI?
Unbeatable possibilities of the framework and my excellent ideas of doing new things.
What's WebGUI's killer feature and why?
Expandability, e.g:
The
Collaboration System, Thingy and SQLReport for rapid realizing things
WebGUI designers didn't even think about.
What's WebGUI's greatest weakness and why?
Apache2::Request, because it's difficult to install, if WebGUI doesn't offer a wre-package.
What makes you work on WebGUI over the competition?
The killer features and Perl
What's your most brilliant WebGUI hack?
Not really brilliant, but necessary:
Have you attended the WebGUI User's Conference?
No
Where do you keep your Gooey doll?
I'm still just dreaming about it.
How would you describe yourself?
I'm a generalist, committed to do or
learn quite a lot of things, only if they make sense.
(This,
however, I cannot realize all the time I should do.)
Are you married, dating, or otherwise involved?
Yes
Do you have any kids?
Yes, two sons.
Do you have any pets?
A Linux penguin
If someone visits your area, what's something they must see or do?
Munich, it's big museum for art (e.g. Neue Pinakothek) and technics (Deutsches Museum) and a good 'Biergarten', but also all the things the Japanese already discovered like the fantasy castles of Ludwig II of Bavaria and our mountains and beautiful lakes.
What do you hate?
People arguing about things I wouldn't argue about.
What do you love?
My wife, my family
What's the last book you read?
The operating instructions of my new cross cut and mitre saw.
What's the last CD/MP3 you bought (or downloaded)?
I can't remember spending money or time for something with no ROI.
What's the last movie you watched?
It
was a good one, but I don't remember its title.
You're stuck on a train/plane for 6 hours and bored out of your mind, what do you do to amuse yourself?
Reading, thinking about things I still have to invent, or I'm just walking around.
Any last words?
Have a good time with WebGUI.
