Hi. Anyone has been able to integrate WebGUI with ISPConfig or RavenCore? Is it possible to have this work with a script to install it for any new client (and it's virtual host) that can be created with one of the 2 mentionned above? Best regards.
Marc P.S.: Needless to say it's my own server. Not rented... Mine... I only rent an RJ-45 cable somewhere...

I don't know of anyone yet, but it shouldn't be that much of a chore. The only part that would really need any sort of plugin would be a way to edit the etc/WebGUI.conf file (each site has its own conf file). I imagine that would be a very welcome addition to the community, should you or anyone else so desire. EDIT: It might not be desired even to allow them to edit the WebGUI.conf file, since it requires restarting Apache. Administering WebGUI servers is not much work at all (plainblack runs at least 8 servers with 200+ sites hosted. Some servers have 50+ sites each.) Plainblack is also releasing an "Administrator's Guide" book that will go over everything you need to know to administer a WebGUI instance. --- (Edited on 7/11/2007 12:00 pm [GMT-0500] by DBell) --- --- (Edited on 7/11/2007 12:03 pm [GMT-0500] by DBell) --- |

Yeah.
Thanks DBell. That's what I figured too. A script to create a table and puts the mysql user login info to the conf file as well as the vhost.conf file... Simply copying the architecture of the www dir to the newly created httpdocs. I have seen the online demo run. I must admit I am impressed. I wanted to install it on my actual fedora/Plesk server, but I don't want it to send my approx 100 customers in the mud. Any suggestion on that: Fedora Core/Plesk... I have all the necessary packages installed... How should I go about giving some of my customers a webgui website?
Regards

That's basically what the WRE's 'addsite' script does, you may want to look at some of the stuff in the WRE's sbin directory for some ideas on plugin functionality. I'm not familiar with Plesk at all, so I can't give one way or the other. I know a few users who have had WRE build problems on Fedora Core (related to incompatible MySQL / library versions). I tend to always suggest using the WRE, as it's an encapsulated, known environment for running WebGUI. A source install is a little more difficult to manage, but if you do write plugins for a web administration panel, if you release them to the community and write a wiki article about how to set up the system, I'm sure there will be some interest. A lot of things I hear from new WebGUI users is how difficult it is to install / administrate. There is a learning curve involved and any efforts to reduce that learning curve will be heralded by the community. --- (Edited on 7/11/2007 12:19 pm [GMT-0500] by preaction) --- |
