I'm building from source ( wre-0.8.3-source.tar.gz) on clean Debian/Etch x86_64 and I err out on the perl modules Net_SSLeay, Crypt_SSLeay, then libapreq2.  

 

First upchuck is Net_SSLeay:

If I comment out Net_SSLeay and "./build.sh --perlmodules" then I get the same complaint about Crypt-SSLeay-0.54:

Comment out libapreq and go again and the modules complete normally- so those 3 modules are the headache. 

 

Any help on where to go from here to get a clean compile?  Many thanks, very eager to dip a leg in WebGUI.

No solution yet, have tried the Suse fix suggested here:

http://www.webgui.org/install/upgrade_help/wre-compile-error-under-suse-10?pn=3

 

And I've rejiggered build.sh as suggested in another thread, to no avail.

 

I can't believe that a 64-bit build is so problematic...

I can't believe that a 64-bit build is so problematic...

 

I am using this build.sh which I modified for a gentoo 64bit. Not sure it is the correct thing to do as I am not a programmer.

OK, I snipped the {perl} and {apache} and {perlmodules} bits out of your build.sh and that solved a couple of the snags- thanks a lot for that! 

The libapreq2 barf persisted, though I found a solution elsewhere on the forum (well, maybe, {perlmodules} is building currently):

cpan install ExtUtils::XSBuilder::ParseSource
