Nice to hear, W8 is coming.
According to recent statements it even seems to be wortwhile to stop the W7-development for that.

Using 7.10 today, apart from the W8-TODO-list on this site and remembering the 5-7 change, which made a lot of people stop developing WG-sites, I should like to be informed about the some things like:

• what are the benefits for changing?
• what are the risks?
• what about existing add-ons and application development?
  What about API-changes, compatibility etc.
• what's happening with all the W7-RFE's and bug reports?
• what do I need to learn for using W8?

Until now, I'm using the beta-versions and I really didn't have great trouble using these.

Some clear statements and/or advices about using W8, I think, would help very much to prevent unnecessary trouble or loosing confidence in this great framework.
