I'm still a novice with WebGUI, and I've run into a couple of snags while redoing a site.

1) Some of the content will be moved around, so I need some way to automatically redirect viewers and spiders to the new content. I thought Redirects were the answer, but it looks like that only adds a link in the navigation, or the page itself. Is there a way to do what I'm thinking of within WebGUI? I'm not sure if I have permission to fiddle with .htaccess.

2) In some cases it looks like a Google search of my site returns not the page URLs but the article URLs. How can I make sure only page layout URLs are indexed by search engines?

When the redirect asset is entered, it will pass you through to the new asset. So if you have used an url, moved that content, you must make sure the url is free again and give the redirect that url as property (so not as forward url). If you have trouble freeing the url, look into the trash or clipboard

That should do the trick for your first question

Thanks, bartjol! That was the problem: what I needed to do was to enter a URL that's not currently in use. I was hoping I could do this without deleting or renaming old pages. Fortunately there aren't a whole lot of them yet.

Use apache redirects in your modproxy configuration for the site. I use that for SEO.
