Does the redirect asset use a template that is editable?

It appears that a when a redirect is exported to a static server, it changes to a meta refresh-based redirect instead of a 301/302 response as it is on the CMS. I'm told there's no way for it to remain as a 301 or 302 response code.

Since that's the case (unless I'm wrong about that), I'd like to add an Edge Suite ESI block to the redirect to get an HTTP-based redirect wokring on our exported site.

Any suggestions would be great. FYI, I'm using WG 7.9.18 but planning to upgrade to 7.10.x in the next couple of months.
