Hi, I was wondering to what extend it is possible to change the style of the webGUI user interface elements. I did see the admin console template but are there for instance ways to change the look and feel of the control buttons or the ?func=edit screen of an article asset? I am now working in WebGUI 7.7.19-stable --- (Edited on 2/25/2010 7:59 am [GMT-0600] by wijtten) --- --- (Edited on 2/25/2010 8:00 am [GMT-0600] by wijtten) --- |

... since the number of replies, as yet, is rather limited, I'm taking the liberty of replying myself to myself.
Thus-far I have found it possible to configure - to a certain extend - the editor, in the UI tab of the settings and the editor used in a CS (display tab).
Also, UI levels of a single user can be configured (admin console -> users -> click the user you would like to configure -> profile tab -> preferences section -> UI level dropdown box)
In the same line, there are the security settings in the security tab of an asset that enables you to shield or open up some options for users/groups of users.
It is possible to overwrite standard WebGUI CSS but that is definitely not very practical.
I guess it is possible to just always use a CS instead of an article for instance, since it is possible to make a User friendly interface with a CS.

It's not really possible to style the user interface right now. And it will be less possible in the future. Have a look at the roadmap: http://www.webgui.org/roadmap There will be a new user interface. The new user interface will use a lot of ajax. This will be done using YUI. That means that it's difficult to see how and what to style for a designer and YUI has some CSS issues of it's own. So if you want to try, consider if you want to do that now, since the user interface will change a lot in the near future. Alright, so basically a cleaner, simpler and more speedy interface, I'm all for that! I hope things will also pick up in terms of readability, appropriate typeface and setting, aligning, whitespace, intuitive navigation and such. --- (Edited on 3/10/2010 3:02 am [GMT-0600] by wijtten) --- |
