Hi

I am using xara to create my websites at the moment and we are looking for a cms system.  How easy is it to convert an html site into a theme for webgui and is it possible.

Thanks for any info

While WebGUI is a complex system with a lot of functions and possibilities it is easy to convert an existing html layout into an WebGUI theme.

It will take some time to learn the how to but you can start with the existing themes that came with webgui and have a look at.

Take an existing html page, delete the content area and there insert the WebGUI content variable, do the same with the navigation. These are the main two steps and most things will work. Then you can customize the templates of the WebGUI assets, like artice, calendar, forms, navigation, ... to fit your needs. Some skills in html and css will help, if you have an existing layout its nothing you'll need magic skills.

There are also several very good online resources on this website that will help you learn how to convert themes into WebGUI styles and templates.

The Designer's Guide - a very large and thorough tutorial for HTML designer's wanting to work with WebGUI.

How to Give WebGUI Your Own Style - Step by step instructions.  Somewhat outdated but still very accurate.
