I'm really happy with the new interface for the bugtracker here on webgui.org. It works!

P.S. Support my Request for Enhancement of Thingy!

Thingy is great, but it would become really powerfull if things could be linked in both directions! Then you could find all people linked to an organisation and all organisations linked to a person.

Transfer your karma to this RFE now, that's what karma's for!

Kind regards,

Arjan Widlak

I agree. Great work! Will the new request tracker be part of 7.6?

It won't be part of 7.6 as it is missing automated tests and internationalization.  It's available in SVN in the experimental branch if you want to download it and install it locally however:

https://svn.webgui.org/svnweb/plainblack/browse/experimental/HelpDesk/

It does require 7.6 beta to work properly.

It does require 7.6 beta to work properly.

Would it be complicated to make it run in 7.5?

Disclaimer: I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you really know what you are doing.

It won't be difficult but it will require a database change that will blow up your upgrade to 7.6 if you don't remember to comment part of it out before running.

It requires you add/update the following methods from the 7.6 versions:

WebGUI/Group.pm
WebGUI/User.pm
WebGUI/AssetLineage.pm

I would recommend setting up a custom lib somewhere with these files in it and tell modperl to use these files rather than the defaults.  That way you don't have to replace the files every time you upgrade.  You will, however, be responsible for manually patching bugs until the 7.6 upgrade

And you'll need to run the following SQL query:

alter table groups add column isAdHocMailGroup tinyint(4) not null default 0

When you do upgrade to 7.6 you will need to make sure you comment out the call to addAdHocMailGroups() before you run it.

Hi Frank,

Thank you very much for writing this up. For a second I was really tempted to patch my current webgui installation. But then I realized that would almost certainly forget to comment out that line in the update script to 7.6. Going to wait until 7.6 is stable. Maybe others are more courageous :-)
