I'm currently evaluating several CMS packages and I really like WebGUI...but I have a mandatory requirement that the package must support "star rating" (i.e. the ability to rate a comment from 1-5, using stars instead of radio-buttons).  I can't find anything on the WebGUI site that addresses this.  Is it not there?  Also, I wanted to know more about the forum functionality - couldn't find it by searching for it.  Where do I go?  Thanks for any help!

WebGUI has a distinction between comments and forum postings.  Comments are what you see on the HelpDesk (see http://www.webgui.org/bugs) for an example of comments.  They have a 5-level rating system.

Forum postings have a 2-level rating system, which you can see with the thumbs-up/thumbs-down at the bottom right of ever post in a thread in the forum.  Ratings accumulate in the thread, so 3 + posts and 1 - post gives the thread a total rating of +2.

And this is definitely the right place to ask questions.  You can also contact Tavis Parker at plainblack for a webinar session, which is some one on one time with a walk through of features and a Q&A time.

The forums also have some userDefined fields that can be used for a variety of purposes, including rating a post.  They wouldn't accumulate on a per post or per thread basis, though.

https://www.thegamecrafter.com/forums/reviews <- is this something along the lines of what you're looking for?

Each review allows a star rating. It would be trivial to allow replies to the review to also allow star ratings.

This reviews section is just a template over the forum system.

You could also check http://www.klettern-md.de/home/klettern/buecher. We
use userDefined fields to add ratings to forum posts. Stars are drawn by
a home-made macro. Ratings are made via a form field. However, that is
only a templating issue. You should be able to replace that with a true
star rating bar if you are familiar with Javascript. I remember that
there was a very good code example on the web, but I do not have the
link at hand.
