When I using the + sign in the search wobject it results in an empty page and not the answer "no results". I found no problems with the - sign.

It's been awhile since I gave my talk about searching in WebGUI (check the WebGUI TV) so I don't remember if it searches in Boolean mode or not. If it does, then + and - are modifiers (see the MySQL docs). Also keep in mind that unless you've changed the behavior of full-text search in your MySQL instance, it limits indexing to words greater than 4 chars (ft_min_word_len).
