I want to have a user "guest" user with only one difference to a visitor: he is a registered user and has no other rights like changing or seeing a profile. The only difference to a visitor should be, that he has another userId as "1" and belongs to
"Registered Users".

In webgui 5, I programmed this by preventing to see/edit the profile. Is there a easier way to realize this in W7?

The easy way out is to define a grouptext macro, that shows a link to the profile for the groups that should be able to show their profile.

Downside is that the profile is still editable by that user if they know webgui well enough. I'll think of a better solution, maybe there is a possibility to block editing of profiles elsewhere

Thanks for the idea!

I was thinking about:

  • having a "but exclude user (or group)" for "Who can View/Edit". However, this would be a change to every asset.
  • a profile field like "NoGroupRights", "IsNotNormalViewUser" or "IsNotNormalEditUser" for using in templates, methods or operations.
In (my) Thingy, I use "SuperViewUserGroup" and "SuperEditUserGroup" to control the listings a User may View/Edit.
  • Putting every user in another standard group as "Registered Users". This also would be too much to change.
  • Hardcoding displayAccount in WebGUI and the operations I don't want to return if user="guest" (or Userlevel=0 )

Ofcourse, I'm interested in an easier solution. At first I'll try the Macro.
