hi, i'm trying to figure out how to export the page to the static html files. i have set the exportPath in config file, but I have no clue what to do next. where's the export icon? should it be with the edit, cut and copy icons? or... version is 6.6.5. :unsure:thanks, g.  --- (Edited on August 15, 2005 11:15:05 [GMT-0500] by deymos) ---

I don't. I don't understand the point. Respectfully to all involved, WebGUI is hard enough to install to use it to generate static HTML pages. Your needs may vary.

If I want a static representation of a site, I might use a program like QuadSucker/Web: Website Downloader

I plan to use WebGUI for http://www.hr/, the Croatian homepage. Right now, I'm transfering current site into WebGUI, and I see it's rather slow. Of course, it'll be faster when I tweak the server and the database, but with all the users coming to the site, I'm afraid it's still going to be slow. Unfortunatelly, I'm stuck with current hardware setup, so I thought I might use WebGUI to edit and update the site, then generate static version of the site (because the content doesn't change that often) and use that directory as the root for the www.hr virtual host. That way, I'd have CMS to manage the site, while users would have faster access.

However, I'm not able to find the way to actualy use static export. The only thing I've come up with, is to engineer the URL and add ?func=exportGenerate to the URL, that gives me the particular static page  in the exportPath directory.

I've posted this question earlier but never got a reply...  Hopefully someone can help...

Thanks,

 Gordan

I've got it... The export icon was missing from the toolbar, I checked the 6.7.1 beta source and corrected it... Now I get the export icon and dialog, but when I do export with depth set at eg. 5, I get the structure ok, but the content of all the files is the same as the original page, where I clicked on the export icon. I'm using 6.6.5. Export with depth=0 works fine, but I wouldn't like to click 400+ times on export icon. ;)

Anyway, let's hope thing will work better in 6.7.*, I see there's a whole new AssetExportHtml.pm file. :)
