I'm using WRE 7.08. I have put
"exportPath" : "/scratch/QQMWebsite"
at the end of my /data/WebGUI/etc/.conf file, the directory is writable for "nobody" (which is how apache runs according to ps). But no "Export" button appears (I guess it should be in Admin console?)
Can anyone provide a step-by-step guide to getting static HTML out of WebGUI?
I tried the following:
1) put exportPath in the /data/WebGUI/etc/.conf
2) create appropriate directory and make it writable
3) restarted webgui with rc.webgui script
I also tried to use "Commit with approval" workflow, which contains export step, but my "/scratch/QQMWebsite" directory remains empty...
Of course I miss something foolishly simple, but I don't know what. Any hints?

This doesn't address the problem of how to enable the export button, but as an alternative... there used to be (version 6.7-ish) a script -- /data/WebGUI/sbin/generateContent.pl -- that could be used to export your website. It might be there in version 7 as well.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the generateContent script is still there. I will look if it does what I need.
In the meantime I went on using wget with a lot of postprocessing (mostly because of using CoolMenus, which links obviously are not converted by -k option).

I also like to use something like wget or quadsucker web to spider a site. --

Under 7.x the export button does not appear as a button in the toolbar but as selection on the list you get when you click on the icon at the front of the toolbar. If you do not see export in the list of functions then either you do not have sufficient uiLevel settings (export's default level is 9) or you have not defined exportPath in your conf file. -Michelle
