I've got a Search Bar asset that I've put within my own folder in ImportNode. I wanted to add it to my "main page/master template" (that is persistant regardles off what page you go to in the site like the menu on the left side here and the logo at the top, not sure of the terminology) but that is a template. So I decided to use ^AssetProxy within that template so that the search bar was always available. The problem I'm getting now, however, is that when you try to search for something, the search results are placed right below the search bar (in the master template) as WELL as being passed into body.content (with the searchbar again for some reason). So I end up having a search bar and the results TWICE on my page (once in the master template, and once through the body.content). How would I fix this? The site is running on a dedicated server, W2003, 1 G ram. Apache 2.x, Perl 5, MySQL 4 After investigating the log files it looks like its slow when one of the crawler bots is crawling the site. At those times I can see CPU usage of apache and mysql go to 100%. Somtimes I have to kill apache to make the site usable again. I have tried to upgrade the webgui to the current version but sofar I got stuck on 6.2.11. This did not help much. I have also upgraded apache and mysql to a more recent version. As a temporary solution I have made a static html copy of the site and I am running this under IIS. From time to time I bring the original webgui site back up but within hours its slow again. This is very annoying as it makes webgui unusable. Any idears what to do ? Is there a way to validate the database ? I noticed in the page tree there is one page that cannot be deleted, could that cause this problem ? I've made a macro to check if a user is within a certain group and to return some values if they are. It looks like this: =head2 process( groupName, [linkHref], [linkText]). What I first had it doing was checking if the user was in the passed in groupName, and return true if so, or false if not. This worked, but then I couldn't figure out how to use that in the code, i had something like: <tmpl_if ^UserGroupCheck("Admins")> <div> <a href ... </div> </tmpl_if> but that doesnt work, as I dont think you can call a macro within a templ_if statement. This isn't the problem I'm having now, but a solution to this would be great :P. So now, I have the user pass in the href info and the text they wanted hypertexted so that the macro just returns a nice and pretty <a href ... /a> statement. I can place the AdSpace macro on a page, and the ad will display until the page is refreshed or when returned to. Then the ad no longer displays. What I don't understand is, where are the perl scripts that complete those templates? Where can I find a list of the tmpl_var's and their definitions? Or the actual perl code that they link to? I've tried viewing the API's but they're fairly usesless in terms of showing me where the code is for each tmpl_var/asset. And if I want to add my own variables/script that say accesses the mysql database and loads in the newest news item, where would I put that script file so that it is executed? Does it matter? Where I work I have to bind to our company's AD in order to run some sort of authentication. They require SSL authentication. So the server URL is ldaps.mycompany.com:636. I've tried to set the protocol to ldaps://, but every time I try that I get an error. To be more precise it's: Error: Malformed LDAP URL. LDAP URLs must include the protocol, i.e., ldap://hostname/ I can force the URL in the MySQL DB. At least I think I can. Now I'm not 100% certain I need to set it to ldaps://, but if it set to that or ldap://, it reads as a valid connection. Whenever I try to login with one of the company's users, webgui.log tells me that the user is trying to login with invalid information. He threw out the idea of using Basic Auth. At first glance, I didn't think this would work with WebGUI. However, I decided to give it a try and, sure enough, it worked! Since Apache handles the request before it is passed to WebGUI, adding a Location directive with the path you wish to protect will effectively block access. If your modperl server is accessible externally, you'll want to put the directive into it's config file. Otherwise, you can use the modproxy config. The idea is simple make WebGUI have an external API system that is compatible with Facebook API. Not only that but also the opensocial API by google. But webgui is not a social application. Well I see add friends on plainblack, and we have profiles and many other features needed to make WebGUI a social platform. What will we get in return. 1-Hopefully huge interest in WebGUI as the first open source CMS to have a compatible API with the major players. 2-Access to thousands of extensions written for the big guys that can work on WebGUI sites. If you do not think my Idea is cool please give it a chance, I really believe this is the Next Big Thing. My merchant account told me that new laws were passed requiring their customers to run a compliance scan on their ecommerce websites to be certain that there were no data vulnerabilities. I set myself up on their platform to run the scan - my site has failed due to the following vulnerability: Web Server HTTP Trace/Track Method Support Cross-Site Tracing (Vulnerability port 80/tcp) A Web server was detected that supports the HTTP TRACE method. This method allows debugging and connection trace analysis for connections from the client to the Web server. Per the HTTP specification, when this method is used, the Web server echoes back the information sent to it by the client unmodified and unfiltered. Microsoft IIS web server uses an alias TRACK for this method, and is functionally the same. A vulnerability related to this method was discovered. A malicious, active component in a Web page can send Trace requests to a Web server that supports this Trace method. Usually, browser security disallows access to Web sites outside of the present site's domain. Although unlikely and difficult to achieve, it's possible, in the presence of other browser vulnerabilities, for the active HTML content to make external requests to arbitrary Web servers beyond the hosting Web server. Since the chosen Web server then echoes back the client request unfiltered, the response also includes cookie-based or Web-based (if logged on) authentication credentials that the browser automatically sent to the specified Web application on the specified Web server. The significance of the Trace capability in this vulnerability is that the active component in the page visited by the victim user has no direct access to this authentication information, but gets it after the target Web server echoes it back as its Trace response. Since this vulnerability exists as a support for a method required by the HTTP protocol specification, most common Web servers are vulnerable. I have a full PDF report that explains more - however, it says that I should contact Plainblack as the problem exists at the Virtual Host level. Spectre always acted flaky in the past, and now does not work at all.
