I have a data form with a filed type "File".

When I submit the form, it will not submit unless a file is browsed for - when I select a file, it submits fine, when I don't, the form just reloads...

This field is not required...

Any ideas?

I see quite some bugfixing (allthough during a quick browse I did not see this one specificly mentioned) between 7.5 and latest stable.

My effort is on www.bartjol.nl, thwere you can see it works in my version.

So please check the changelogs a bit more carefully then I did. If the bugfix is out there somewhere, maybe you can use a patch if you decide not to upgrade for some reason.

I found out the issue, sort of...

I had a label that was quite long and contained a colon and some round brackets (but the field name was 1 word). When I reduced the label to a shorter version, everything worked after that...

I have no idea why label text would affect form functionality, but in the webgui world, I guess it does.

THe same was true for the "From" field. The label was a longer description, but the field name was appropriately named "from". Until the label name was shortened, the form used the default site email address as the "from" email address instead of using the user's submitted email address as the "from"

wacky

I've seen similar things happen with forms outside of WebGUI. This sounds like a bug in the template. I hope you have or will file it. Please include the template that you were using.
