I just spent about 2-3 hours banging my head against the wall. Earlier this month I installed a fresh WRE and the latest version of 7.6.35 from the Plainblack download page. Everything was find until I discovered problems with textarea fields in IE6 and IE7. I assumed that the problem was my own related to custom templates or my CSS. After determining that it was something in the core I found the notices related to the 2 community releases of 7.6 that followed the final 7.6 release (7.6.35). I had seen the notices for those releases on the dev list when they first were done but had not remembered that you needed to go the bazaar to get them. I wrongly assumed that the downloadable version was updated. I installed the lastest community release and the problem was resolved. I understand the need to close off development in 7.6 in order to move on to new versions, however, is there a need to declare that these community releases are not supported and therefore not available via the download page? I think that once 7.7 has been in "stable" status for a bit this will be less of an issue, however, I expect that there are others that may not be ready to implement 7.7.X in production and it would be nice to have the best version of 7.6.X available via standard channels rather than needing to find them in the Bazaar. If that is not possible could we include a notice on the download page for older versions that would point the user to the Bazaar to look for subsequent community releases. Thanks, Eric

Community releases are just that. The community doesn't have the ability to put their releases through our release process, and therefore can't upload it to update.webgui.org, and therefore wont' make it on to getwebgui.com (aka the download page). |

How about putting it up on SourceForge, in the Community Releases area? |
