logrotate.pl - what it does

logrotate.pl is one of three scripts that is suggested to be setup as a cron. See WRE installation wiki for details.

The purpose of this wiki is my attempt to document what logrotate.pl does.

From what I can tell, it's purpose is to rotate your wre/webgui related logfiles.

First it attempts to find where your log files are (which are typically):

  1. /data/wre/var/logs
  2. /data/domain/var/logs

Second, it rotates each of the files that are named *.log it finds. It keeps three backups. Which are then appropriately named .0, .1, .2

Thirdly, it compiles awstats statistics if awstats is enabled.
