I just wanted to ask where I find a news addon for WebGUI 7.4*? When I try the demo, the news addon is already active, but in our installation it is not. Where can I find it?
Thanks for your help.

the news in the demo is created with a syndicated content object, do you mean this, because that was present standard in my 7.5.9

I tried this, but it didn't work with me. I created a "Syndicated Content" instead of a "Pagelayout" and then changed to that "Syndicated Content" and created "articles" as a test. But it didn't show me the content of the "test"-article.
Same problem with the Photo Gallery. I will stop working now. I had enough for today.

You need to create a page layout to place the other assets on. So, create a page layout asset, then, while on that page, create a Syndicated Content asset to display on it. In the properties tab of the syndicated content asset is the field in which to enter the URLs for RSS feeds. The syndicated content asset will automatically pull the news stories from those RSS feeds.
The news example you see on the demo site is pulling titles from collaboration systems located throughout plainblack.com.
- Somewhere on your site, add a collaboration system asset to a page (page layout). This is your news asset.
- Add some threads to that collaboration system- these are your news articles.
- In the asset manager (admin>assets) navigate to the collaboration system. Among the threads you created you will also see an RSS From Parent asset. View this asset and copy its URL.
- Create a page layout.
- Add a syndicated content asset to this page.
- Paste the RSS From Parent asset's URL into the syndicated content asset and you will get the same type of result as what you see on the demo site.

Thanks for the answer, but I don't want to include RSS news but normal news, we put ourselves onto the site. It shall be a news site where every new news is putting up the first automatically (not as usual on the end of the side).
I was quite sure that I have seen such an Addon in the DEMO.

I am going crazy with this system.
Now I tried this collaboration system, but there is no News template, only Forum, Weblog, Job Tracker, FAQ, etc...
I tried it with Forum and Weblog ... anyway what I tried ... I wrote a test message into it and the only thing I have got was "Your post has been received and is being processed so it can be added to the site. Please be patient." And where is it? Why do I not see it in the "Weblog" or where ever?
Please HELP!!!

Often, the weblog template in the collaboration system is used for news stories. Sometimes, organizations do some additional templating to make the "headlines", or title of the post, appear as they wish (like on plainblack.com, only the date and title show). The Syndicated Content asset is an option to pull the headlines of several collaboration system assets together to display in a central location. For example, you could have several departments, each with their own collaboration system, and then you could pull the posts from each of those collaboration systems together to display in one central location on the site.
The message you receive after the post is a good thing. It is confirming that your post was received, and that WebGUI is working on placing it on the site. Simply hit the "back to site" link to return to the collaboration system itself, or use the site navigation to return to the page on which the collaboration system is stored.

I am sure you like WebGUI and I try to understand why. But didn't find the right answer, yet.
I tried as you told, but the difference to you explanation is that I don't get any news after I added them, pressed "save" and went "Back to site".
Here a picture as it looks with me.

Ok, just to make sure I understand:
In the image you sent, there is a small "Add" link in the upper right hand corner. You clicked on that, entered your content, and clicked save. Then the back to site message showed. Your news story should have been added. The image you sent is of the collaboration system asset itself, not of the thread (the thread is what your news story is made of). Check the Security tab of the Collaboration System asset and make sure that the Approval Workflow field is set to Commit Without Approval.

I did have a look into the security section and the approval workflow is "Commit without Approval". It is so that nothing is saved what I add there. I don't know what the problem is.
The same problem I have with the photogallery. It says it can't create thumbnails and when I add a photo there it says that everything went fine, but no picture is added.
gif files create no errors but the picture isn't added. jpg files create errors:
Couldn't read image for thumbnail creation: Exception 420: no decode
delegate for this image format
`/WebGUI/www/public/uploads/Xj/_v/Xj_vCYnsp2QfW_FOzSLL3g/01.Hoersaal.Publikum.jpg' Couldn't read image to check the size of it: Exception 420: no decode
delegate for this image format
`/WebGUI/www/public/uploads/Xj/_v/Xj_vCYnsp2QfW_FOzSLL3g/01.Hoersaal.Publikum.jpg'
Couldn't read image for thumbnail creation: Exception 420: no decode
delegate for this image format
`/WebGUI/www/public/uploads/Xj/_v/Xj_vCYnsp2QfW_FOzSLL3g/01.Hoersaal.Publikum.jpg'
My colleague said that the upload worked fine. But neither the picture I added nor the news I added is shown in WebGUI.
I really don't get it.
