Trouble with Search Users  (#3103)
Issue

We currently have 250 users and 255 groups.

When you first log to the site and click Users in the Admin Console only the empty search box appears.  If you click the search button all users are displayed.

If you search for a user, it displays the user.  If you delete the criteria from the search box and hit search button, the previous search criteria appears and you cannot get the whole list again.  If you log out and come back in the search box appears empty again and if you hit search button all appear.  I found if I hit the letter "a" after doing an initial search all appear again.  We used the user import script to import the names.

When we go into the group command from the Admin Console only the search box appears.  If I click search, all groups appear.  The search feature is working fine in this area.  I can search and find.  Then delete the search criteria from the box and all groups reappear.

Any input would be helpful. Susan

This is a great description, but you never clearly state what you think the bug is.

Is the bug that all users are displayed when you initially go to the search form?

Or is that after searching, you cannot get back to the list of all users?

I'm guessing the latter (unable to get back to the list), but I want to be sure.

The bigest bug for us is that you can make a search, find the user then cannot get your full list back by deleting the criteria.  Also with a small list you usually see the full list when you enter the User command from the Admin Module.  You do not have to search for anything.

That's by design.  Initially it will not display any uses if you have more than 250.  Otherwise, it will conduct a default search and return all users.

I'll begin looking into how to return the full list.

Thanks for that update.  Now if we can solve how to return the full list
in the user area.  The group area is ok returning the full list.  Susan

Here's a quick workaround that should keep you going until the next bug release.

Change the Contains/Starts with/Ends with field and clear the keyword field.

Hi Colin,

Thanks for your quick replies. I work with Susan and can give you a little back history on why this was reported as a bug. All the sites we've built in wG have had less than 250 users. Thus when we get to our first site with >250, this was abnormal behavior as we'd been conditioned to expect to see the full list.

If you could just output a message that said something to the extent that you have more than nnn users, please use the search form to find a user, that would have helped out. I'll add that as an RFE while you look into it from a code angle.

Thanks,
William
