In the front end GUI you get an option when copying an asset.
This does not work in the Asset manager(only copying selected asset and you get no choice).

Copying in the asset manager works differently because you can copy lots of different assets at once (check list). If you'd like to be able to have that feature in the asset manager (which I'm not sure is a good idea), then please submit an RFE for it.
