Sometimes when I am working in an asset (specifically Poll and Article) my content in the Description field disappears upon saving. In the Poll, more specifically, if I change the question and answers, I often have to do it three, even four times before it actually saves. With an article what seems to happen is if I put my content in, then make a Display change (such as hide title) and click save, my content disappears.
The most current example of this happened this morning when I was working on this article wuc/webgui-users-conference-2007. At approximately 9:25 I finished typing my content, and in the Display tab chose to hide the title. At approximately 9:26 AM I saved it, and when I was returned to the page the asset was there, but no content was displayed. Upon clicking the Edit button at approximately 9:26.32 I saw that the Description field in the Add/Edit screen was empty. So, I entered my text again, and saved again. This time all worked well.
Hmm...
I can stream WJVL over the Internet to Portland. I have a box of Golden Grahams and similar clothes. But I'm not clear whether that caused the problem or fixed it. Could you please clue me in?
This happened again today (6/19). I edited an existing article on the WebGUI Live page that displays access info for subscribers. I clicked the edit tab, updated the content in the Description field, then went to the Security tab to change the viewing privileges. Upon saving the asset the content reverted back to the original content, and my changes were lost.
Adding to this post:
This seems to happen more often when I save from a tab other than the Properties tab.
I have yet to find a way to test this theory, but I've had the same thing happen on a client site because of strangely encoded characters.
But isn't Apache or Perl supposed to handle that?
What happens when a POST is sent with encoding Latin1 or ISO-8991-1 instead of UTF-8?
What's the text you tried to add to the post?
This just happened again today on PB's site, this time when adding a page layout asset.
1. Selected page layout asset.
2. Entered text in Description area.
3. Selected style template from Display tab.
4. Saved.
5. When returned to the page the text input into the Description field was gone. Needed to edit the asset and add it a second time.
