We uploaded some images to an album. When going back to the gallery and entering the album in question, the asset doesn't display. The webgui.log shows:

  • 2008/04/29 12:29:55 - WARN - www.example.com.conf - main::[[undef]] - Couldn't call method view on asset for url: home/photo-gallery/gallery/april-2008 Root cause: malformed UTF-8 character in JSON string, at character offset 2037 ["\x{7ed}\x{d1a0}\\u00..."] at /data/WebGUI/lib/WebGUI/Asset/File/GalleryFile/Photo.pm line 179.

So using the Asset view, I isolated the image causing the breakage. I could move this to its own album, which was then broken when entered. But the image file itself is fine, it is shown as the album's thumbnail, and full version is viewable through the Asset tree.

Not sure how I can find out what's the actual cause of the problem, there isn't a description set, and filename is just a number generated by the camera.

If you upload the same image again, does it have the same problems?

Yes happens consistently with this photo, even if I create new albums or Gallery to put it into. Though the photo is shown as the album thumbnail.

Irritatingly, the problem does not occur if I upload the same photo to a gallery on the Beta Demo, it works fine.

While the gallery should handle this failure better, it would also be nice to know what is causing that particular image to fail.  Is it something that you can attach here?
