'javascript' displayed where content should be (#9455)
Issue

I pasted content from Open Office 3 on Win XP and when it gets delivered to a remote site via Syndicated Content it simply says 'javascript'. also there is an HTML comment inserted when the text is pasted, even when this is deleted it does not render correctly in Syndicated Content... I think this may be an issue with OO3 (or the XP version) because other users(kristi) are not having this problem when they paste from open office.

clarification: content was posted into a thread using the standard forum thread editor, the 'content manager editor' handles the posting differently.

I've seen similar for cases where WebGUI is unable to retrieve the RSS feed. It displayed items with a title of 'javascript' linked with an empty href. That may be related to this.

upon thinking about this, there may be three separate issues here: 1. the comment that gets inserted from open office. 2. the RSS feed has an empty element where there should be data. 3. Syndicated Content produces incorrect text for an empty feed element.

the 'javascript' thing is an issue in itself. very easy to fix...
just wrap the parameter in scalar(...)

issue number four: if an item comes through blank then the description of the syndicated content object is placed where the text of the content should be

the SO object text is inserted because the template variable is the same for the parent and the element; the element is blank so it uses the parent value

the 'comment' issue is from the wysywyg editor, it is intended as style information, but the editor does not seem to handle it properly and so the '<'s get translated to '<' making the whole thing visible. so far this is only happening on XP using firefox

fortunately you can remove the html comment from the post in a later edit.
with forum managers editor you may have to edit the html directly though

the 'javascript' and blank synopsis issues are fixed in revision 9288 but I can't resolve this issue, presumably because I created it...
